A number of GVSU students claimed awards from the Michigan Association of Broadcasters in the 2018 Michigan Student Broadcast Awards. The winners were:

• Best Newscast – First Place, “West Side Stories”, Preston Donakowski, Cali Hubbard, Emory Fralick, Eric Deyo
• Best News Feature – Second Place, Regan Blissett
• Best Scripted Show – Second Place, “Apt. 122”, Jacob Farah, Courtney Bland, Syd Martin, Emily Rice (These students are CFV students.)
• Best Radio Play-By-Play – Honorable Mention, Nate Dreyer, Paul McPherson

Winners will receive their awards at the Great Lakes Media Show on March 7.  Please be sure to congratulate them—and Professor James Ford, who worked with the news students—on their successes.

Communication Studies part-time faculty member Roger "Buddy" Allman was selected to receive the Pew Teaching Excellence Award for Part-time Faculty. Please be sure to congratulate Buddy on this well-deserved honor.

Three students in the M.S. in Communication program received Dean's Citation Awards this past December.

• Pasha E. Shipp received an award for Academic Excellence in the Degree Program.
  
• Jocelyn V. Flint received an award for Outstanding Final Project.
  
• Mychal A. Cantu received an award for Excellence in Service to the Community or Profession.
