Last weekend, Carl Brown traveled to the National Association of Communication Centers' conference, at James Madison University, with three undergraduates and two graduate students. For the first time in NACC history, a single school—GVSU!—swept all three paper competitions. The Bob and Ann Weiss Undergraduate Research Paper, the Huddy-Gunn Graduate Research Paper, and the Ferguson Faculty Research Paper awards were all claimed by the Grand Valley Speech Lab.

This week, our colleague Tim Penning was accepted as a member of the prestigious Arthur W. Page Society, an organization of the top CCOs and PR pros of the largest organizations in the world.
In considering Tim's nomination, Don Stacks, legendary professor from University of Miami and Page board member, said that the best PR program in Michigan is not at UM or MSU, but Grand Valley—because of what Tim and his colleagues have done over the years to get our students involved and our program known nationally. Please be sure to congratulate Tim on this honor! Angie Crouch '88, an Emmy award winning journalist and GVSU broadcasting alumna has been selected to receive the GVSU Alumni Association's Distinguished Alumni Award.
